E9-1-1 Addressing Services
Since 1988 MSAG Data Consultants has been aiding local government in the conversion of rural route addressing to street addresses suitable for Enhanced 911. Our process has proven to be effective and efficient. One of the most important features that makes MSAG stand out from our competition is that our service does not end with the successful conversion of addresses. We continue to aid the county or municipality with the ever-changing needs of Enhanced 911. Populating databases for CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch), creating custom reports for county officials, and creating custom maps are just a few ways that MSAG Data Consultants continues to service its clients.
The mapping service we provide our 911 clients normally starts with GPS surveyed ground control along with new aerial photography and stereo-compiled digital planimetric mapping at scales ranging from 1” = 200 feet to 1" = 600 feet. MSAG Data Consultants can digitize Property Ownership Maps with Parcel Identification Numbers, link specified data to individual parcels, and layer this over the GIS-Base E9-1-1 Map, which will show structures with address numbers, centerline roadways and hydrography. For Address Maintenance and other GIS applications, MSAG Data Consultants can specify necessary software and hardware.
Address Conversion
There are two basic addressing systems that are used to address a jurisdiction:
- Mile marker system
- Grid addressing scheme
Address Data
- Each road segment has its name, route number and address range as attributes
- Along that road each addressable structure is located as a corresponding point feature
- The combination of roads and address points provide an ideal starting point for all GIS (Geographic Information Systems) that the county will need in the future
Master Street Address Guide
The creation of a complete MSAG is critical for the successful implementation of an E911 System. MSAG Data Consultants creates this Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) from the base data. Before the database is given to the telephone company, each street address and road segment is verified against the final MSAG to ensure 100% completion.
